It is very important to install the baby or infant seat correctly. According to RACV, more than 70% of child safety seats are not available. Failure to do so will increase the risk of injury in accidents. Therefore, in order to find the right way, we consulted professionals. Shant from the Bondi child restraint installation station showed us step by step how to install a normal child seat between 0 and 4 years old in a forward or backward configuration.

Install Baby Car Seat Rear-Facing
The rear-facing child seat configuration should be used around the first 12 months of your child’s life. Infant seat installation law states that you must have your child’s face back within the first six months, but you must make it look back. When they are in shape, it is safer if they face back. This seat size is an alternative to the baby cabin and is suitable for newborns. Once they are big enough, you will turn them over and face the front until they are four years old. Are you ready to install it?
1. You can probably remove the top tether fixing point that comes with the child seat. It looks like a big bolt. Unless your car has been in use for more than 15 years, your car may have built-in anchors, so you don’t need it.
2. Choose which side of the car you will place the seat on. Your safest option is the passenger side, but if you have more than one child or are installing additional car seats, then this advice is meaningless anyway.
3. Place the base at the rear of the child seat at the correct angle for your child. There may be stickers on the side to guide you.
4. Remove the stabilizer bar from the front of the child seat (where your child’s legs are), and place the child seat in an appropriate position in the car so that the stabilizer bar is firmly against the back of the car seat.
5. Take out the ISOFIX buckles (they may be hidden somewhere in the child seat fabric; they look like small seat belts. You should see the ISOFIX logo to highlight the location of the ISOFIX fixing points on both sides of the car seat, the right seat The place where the seatback meets the base. If you don’t see the ISOFIX point, you will need to use the most insecure seat belt and top tether accessory.
6. It used to be worse to install a child seat in a car than to assemble a closet from scratch.
7. But with the introduction of the ISOFIX child seat, most of the mysteries have been solved. You can also get a safer baby seat that will not shake in your car, so any parent can feel at ease. The correct installation of a child or infant seat is extremely important. According to RACV, more than 70% of child safety seats in Australia are not available. Failure to do so will increase the risk of injury in accidents. Therefore, in order to find the right way, we consulted professionals.
8. Shant from the Bondi child restraint installation station showed us step-by-step how to install a normal child seat between 0 and 4 years old in a forward or backward configuration.
9. If your car has an adjustable headrest, please raise the headrest and tie the tether to the seatback to ensure it is the most direct path (in or around the headrest post) to the tether point. It is usually located on the seat back and snaps into the connection point. Some cars have this top connection point on the packaging rack or on the roof, but if in doubt, please consult your owner’s manual. After fixing it, you will hear it click into place, but please be sure to pull it. Tighten one side of the upper tether strap and tighten the tether until there is no slack in a straight line. Make sure to minimize any twist in the belt; there will always be some twist, but make sure it is minimal.

Install Baby Car Seat Front-Facing
Roll the car seat forward if your child does not look back (usually around 12 months). Children always grow in size, not in age, when they move between steps in a child car seat. All children develop at different rates, and doing the right thing for them is much more important than taking them to the next level just because they are over a certain age. The shunt also shows the correct and safe way to set the same 0-4 seat in the forward position. The seat installation method is the same.
1. For a child seat, fold the base and buckles behind the child seat and place the backrest behind the child seat.
2. Remove the upper long strap from the top of the child seat and pull the rope all the way.
3. If your car has adjustable head restraints, raise the head restraints and attach the straps to the backrests so that they have a direct path (inside or around the head restraint rods) to the attachment points. Usually behind the seat and fixed at the attachment point. Some cars have this top attachment point on the trunk or roof, but check the manual if you’re not sure. Once it’s safe, you will hear a click, but try it.
4. Tighten the loose ends of the top rope. You may need to try several times to eliminate the play on both sides of the tires in front of the car’s rear seat. Be careful not to reduce the projection on the belt or to pull it too tight. Otherwise, the child car seat will lift from the bottom of the car seat.
5. Place the ISOFIX belts on either side of the child seat and click on the ISOFIX belts at both ends. The belt is shaped like a harness and the ISOFIX point (the ISOFIX logo should be displayed to highlight this) is located in the space between the bottom of the car seat and the rear. If the ISOFIX point is not visible, use a seat belt and a safer top belt.
6. Tighten the ISOFIX tape until you see a green line on each strip. Use your body weight to push the chair into place and secure it as much as possible. Once you’ve put on your child’s seat belt, everything is in order.
Recommend
If your child is taller than the child’s car seat, switch to a convertible seat or a versatile seat for back use. These chairs usually have a height restriction and a higher backrest weight so that your child can support their back longer. If an infant under 1-year-old is too large or heavy for a child seat, we recommend a child seat with a limited backrest in height and weight.
FAQ
What if my child’s feet touch the back of the car seat?
This is a very common problem for parents, but don’t worry. Children are very flexible and always find a comfortable position in the back seat. Foot injuries in children facing backward are very rare.
What if my child is sitting in or next to the car seat?
Folded blankets can be placed on either side of the baby. Many manufacturers allow a small diaper or cloth to be used between the cruciate ligament and the baby, if necessary, to prevent the cruciate ligament from falling asleep. Do not place pillows under or behind your baby. Also, do not use child seat upholstery unless it is equipped with a seat or manufactured by the manufacturer for the specific use of the seat.
Why should I dress my child lightly before tying him to the car seat?
Heavy clothing, such as winter coats and winter clothing, can stick together in an accident, so loose straps can hold children together and increase the risk of injury. Ideally, stretch the baby out in a thin layer and wrap it up if necessary.
Does your premature baby need a special car seat?
The child’s car seat must be suitable for the child’s weight. Many young children who can sit safely in a half-closed position usually only fit in the back seat. Premature babies should be examined in the hospital so that they can sit safely in a semi-reflexive position. Infants who need to lie down while traveling can sleep in a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213 car bed. You will need to be tested again at the hospital to make sure you can lie safely in bed.
Whatever you read, it’s probably best to have some handy guidelines. Or ask a certified child safety professional to inspect and test the installation. Find a local specialist and visit the Safe Kids List. It is not recommended to bring the child car seat to a doctor or fire department without first checking that it is a trained and certified technician.
